Since ancient times, cacao has been a sacred tree, being an element of nature that connects us with the most beautiful part of being, makes us feel mental clarity and a lasting state of concentration.

The scientific name of the cacao tree: “Theobroma Cacao”, is formed from the two words, Theo: god in Greek, and Broma: food. This is how the people of Central America considered this drink.

This is due to its high content of Theobromine, an element that works on the heart and brain.

The civilizations of Mesoamerican lands knew the power of this plant, which was consumed as a drink by warriors, and was also ritualized and elevated to ceremonial status.

At Sumay we seek the purest way to enjoy this wonderful food, and this is the reason why we work with farmers who have been on their grandparents' land for generations and with a women's cooperative that takes care of the land and the work with cacao with joy and dedication. At home we continue with this care by selecting the best plants and elements so that everyone receives all of its benefits.

The cacao paste or ceremonial cacao we offer is organic and fair trade, each part of the process is carefully controlled so that we can enjoy its maximum quality.

For us, cacao is more than just food, it is a life ritual, like everything we do every day. Our intention is that everyone finds that moment when they consciously receive a cup of cacao and enjoy not only its flavor, but also the physical benefits that this superfood has to offer thanks to its many components for the body.
